Seeing Double – How to Set up Dual Monitors on One Computer

Having two of something is always better than one. The same goes for dual monitors on a single PC. In fact, professional graphics designers make sure to use dual monitor systems to cut their workload in half. However, you would still have to properly set the monitors up in your computer system in order for them to be compatible with them.

Graphics designers are no strangers to these types of scenarios. They always need enough space to create their design ideas. Some software, like Photoshop and Dreamweaver, are so extensive that it becomes necessary to use multiple monitors to keep track of things all at once.

A user tends to open up many applications at once thinking that doing so might allow him to deal with multiple tasks at the same time. While this is true for common users, the same becomes a tiresome ordeal for graphics designers who find minimizing and maximizing extensive charts arduous and time consuming.

If you happen to be a professional web designer, knowing the advantages of multiple monitor systems can help you decide on whether you want them yourself –

  • A dual monitor system can give you the liberty of designing your websites on one screen and edit them on the other. This means that you won’t have to switch between different applications continuously.
  • Other than that, you can also designate a single monitor for emails only.
  • Utilize one monitor to browse the internet for ideas while you create your websites on the other one.

Dual Monitor Setup on Desktop Computers

Most of today’s computers are designed to be compatible with dual monitors without having to use any extra hardware. However, if your own system happens to be old, you will need to have some new or extra graphics cards installed. You can check the back of your PC to see whether your video adaptor can use both DVI and VGA. It can either have both or one of them. If it does, then the set up will be easy. Your computer systems will probable change your settings to accommodate two monitors as well.

On Laptops

Like new computers, most laptops are also designed to support multiple monitors. If you happen to have one of your own, all you have to do is to connect the extra monitors at the back via the VGA or DVI connector. Restart your computer as soon as you do and your computer system will take it from there.

You will need to change how your Windows program mirrors your laptop desktop to external monitors. This is necessary especially if you want to drag new windows onto other monitors. In other words, you will need to duplicate your desktop on all available displays. This will come in handy for presentations especially on a projector. You can also use multiple applications on one monitor while you give presentations on the other all the while creating your designs on your laptop’s original screen.

After the strong opposition in Egypt against long time ruler Hosni Mubarak now in Libya same is under way from last week. Moammar Gadhafi leading the Libya for some long that and now Libyans are fed up with their administrator.

Today on Sunday common people also reiterated to continue the protest and Benghazi become the most violent area due to clashes. According to anti-government they have waited all night outside city ready to protest again without being afraid of tear gas and bullets had been used on them by the Government.

One of the protestor without disclosing name said “Our Goal is simple and want Gadhafi to go because we want freedom and Democracy”. It appears that Gadhafi will leave soon as we have seen same incident in Egypt when Mubarak was so reluctant to leave and finally bow in front of Egyptians.

The Prestige

Having watched ‘The Prestige’, I had remembered the show ‘The Magic of David Copperfield’ which led to David becoming a famous magician and entertainer for his seamless displays of magic.
‘The Prestige’ a movie of mysterious story of 2 magicians from their friendly relationship evolves into a bitter rivalry. Their feelings of obsessive, jealousy had making them enemies for life and lead them on a life-long battle. The movie showed some of the act and tricks behind every performance of a magic show, the consequences behind the stage that may be happening. The illusions scale that you can’t think of…
After the act in ‘X-Men’ and ‘Batman Returns’, both actors Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale played an active role again in this movie, star as Angier and Boden respectively. Both are my favorite actors. :P
‘The Prestige’ is full of twists and turns, not as fantastic as ‘Harry Porter’ with his fascinating power and his never ending battle against a powerful wizard Lord Voldermort nonetheless the movie managed to keep me watching..

Real estate investing, the checkboxes for investing in a good Denver Furnished Apartment

Denver Furnished Apartments

Real estate can be a great investment. It was mostly thanks to appreciation in houses bought for just a few thousand dollars and later sold for hundreds of thousands that the Greatest Generation could afford their great retirements; and some of the world’s biggest fortunes have been built on owning real estate.

This can be true in spades for rural land. We have already told the story of one family who enjoyed their rural land for twenty-five years and then sold it off for millions of dollars; and their happy story is repeated daily.

But not all rural land will appreciate. Some may even decline in value, so if you hope to invest in rural land, you can’t settle for just any old parcel because you love the trees and views. Beyond checking out its access and zoning and making sure that it is free from pollution, you’ve got to be a savvy strategic investor. Here are some thoughts to be applied when you find a rural parcel that seems ripe for investment: Denver Furnished Apartment

• Think investment! Don’t rely on future luck to make you money, but instead always begin with the end in mind.

• Buy in advance of likely future growth. Land just outside the developing ring of a growing city is your best investment, while land in the boonies of a state that people are fleeing for happier climes might see no appreciation at all.

• Look at road patterns. The best land investments are those so close to present or future major roads that the land can be easily reached, but still far enough away that they suffer little in the way of freeway noise. A visit to the planning office of a town or city where you hope to buy your land can yield a wealth of information about future changes in roads and infrastructure.

• Look for the right kinds of water. In most states, surface water is the biggest real estate amenity, so bordering on or containing a clean pond or lake can increase a parcel’s value. Abundant pure subsurface water that can be tapped with reasonable ease is another positive factor. But wetlands and swamps can make the land useless, so make sure that whatever is not a real body of water is almost all true upland.

• Favor road frontage. In most states, frontage on developed roads can be broken into lots and sold easily, while interior land cannot be developed without first putting in roads and infrastructure. Limited road frontage is not a barrier to buying if everything else about the land is a “go”; but in general, the more road frontage, the better.

• Have a holding-period use planned for your land. Unlike stocks or bank accounts, rural land is a financial drain, so it is foolish to buy even a likely-looking parcel unless you can use it while it is appreciating. Living or vacationing on the land is best; but if you can’t do that, then see if you can maybe lease it for grazing or hunting. Paying taxes and interest on unused land that appreciates at ten percent per year is going to mean that your return is close to zero.

• Have an eventual economic use for the land in mind. Nobody will hold you to it, but when you begin to think seriously about buying, you ought at the same time to be thinking about selling. Will this land eventually be platted for housing? Is it close enough to freeways for multi-family housing, or is it better suited to becoming ranchettes? Does it have commercial possibilities? Are there nearby parcels that might later be combined with it to increase the whole area’s value? For nearly all rural land, the ultimate best use is going to be some form of housing, but that doesn’t mean that you should immediately assume that is going to be your only option.

• Have a general holding period in mind. If your notion is to retire to your land and leave it only feet-first with a lily, that’s fine; that itself is a holding period. But too often, people hold onto land and pay interest and taxes on it year after year without any clear idea of when they will reap whatever is going to be its value.

• Buy it right. The old saying that you make your money when you buy is especially true for rural land. Study nearby values carefully, and try to pay as little as you can in relation to whatever you expect to make. So if you find a parcel with extraordinary investment possibilities and with very little risk, then you will be willing to pay more; but if the land is more speculative, then negotiate hard and be prepared to walk away. The fact that the land will give you little or no income makes buying it right a real imperative.

• Remember your Section 1031 option. This is such an important factor in the investment lives of rural landowners that we will be treating it separately, but for now just remember that real estate investments can be exchanged for other real estate investments without the need to recognize a capital gain. This means that if you own rural land that has appreciated mightily, you can sell it and buy other land or rental properties, and whatever you would have paid in capital gains tax can be kept and reinvested. The rules are strict, so if this idea interests you, then consult a knowledgeable attorney.

Rural land can be a great investment. If you do it right, you ought to be able to buy land that makes your heart beat faster, live on it for a decade or two, and then sell it for maybe enough to let you happily retire on another rural parcel, on the future outer ring of some retirement haven.

FAQ: Domain Names

Do I need a domain name?

Most sites need a domain name . If you don't have one, you'll be assisted during sign up. A domain name should not cost more than $15/year.

ProBiz Hosting will offer subdomain hosting to qualifying organizations at no additional cost. Your website address would be www.yourevent.pbhevent.org .
If your site is a "limited run" site and you don't want to worry about a domain name we offer subdomain service for a one-time only fee of $10. See Domain Options for more details.

Do you register domain names for me?

No. We will lead you through the process from a registrar that we trust and work with often. You need to be in control of your own domain. Many problems website owners experience over the long run can be avoided by owning and managing your domain.

What is a nameserver and what do I have to do to make my domain name work?

The nameserver information is like the address of the server your site is hosted on. You'll be given that information as you sign up. The actual nameserver will depend on the server your site is assigned to. Your domain registrar will need this information to point your domain to our servers.

If you currently own a business or have thought about becoming a business owner, it is important that you read every bit of the following information. Learn what it is that not even those claiming to be the "experts" in search engine optimization (SEO) and web marketing know. Read the following article, and you will know the number one secret to web marketing and search engine optimization.

THE FUTURE IS NOW

In order to be successful in business now and in the future, we must no longer talk about the web as being the future of business, and instead be asking ourselves the question- what am I doing NOW to ensure the success of my business in the future? More and more we are hearing business people talk about the future of business as if it is some abstract reality. What they- as well as many others- have not realized is that the future of business- the Internet- is NOW. Innovative methods of marketing that are focused building customer relationships such as those found at Amazon.com, Yahoo!, and AOL, are widening the gap between the “leaders” and the “laggards”.

TRAFFIC DOES NOT EQUAL SALES!

Another thing we here a lot of is people talking about "driving traffic" to their website. If their cash flow isn't what they had envisioned, we'll hear most business owners say "I just have to drive more traffic." In some cases, we'll even hear this from owner's whose websites are generating thousands of hits per week! So where does this stem from? Unfortunately, they are simply repeating what they've heard from search engine optimization "specialists". This is the result of almost ALL SEO and web marketing strategies, which is an outside-in approach to marketing websites.

THE OUTSIDE-IN APPROACH TO WEB MARKETING

Keyword optimization, meta tags, link-building- the list goes on forever. Some optimizers and web marketing firms have gotten creative with their marketing techniques, but generally the methods of bringing traffic to websites are pretty well known not only by the people providing the services, but also by the search engine companies and even an increasing amount of the general public. Any savvy web developer knows that you can't "trick" the search engines. The search engine optimization companies will always be one step ahead of the "optimization artists." How do I know this? Because I used to think the same way. I learned SEO from some real gurus in the industry, yet it always bugged me that we could bring hoards of people to a website, and then be ok with getting less than 1% of them to actually make a purchase. It was always just a matter of "driving more traffic" in order to get more sales.

If we had just developed a good sales model that was focused on providing a great experience for the visitor, not only would sales have increased, but return sales would've provided for exponential increases in the income for these websites. It was at this point that I realized that the approach was all wrong, and I was seeing it everywhere. The whole concept of "search engine optimization" is usually completely backwards. Why bring hundreds of thousands of people to a website that doesn't have well-written copy material, interactive content, valuable educational information, a personalized experience (think Amazon.com), and a strategic sales model? It just didn't make sense... and that's when our company- Vision Media- was born.

The truth is, Amazon.com has reported conversion rates of 20% and sometimes even more, with an astounding return sales rate of 80%. Dell computers isn't much different. They've reported conversion rates in excess of 18% and 70% return buyers. Although they may blow other websites into the stratosphere comparatively speaking, they see it as "what are we doing wrong, or what are we NOT doing that causes 80% of the people that visit our website to leave? This is much different than the typical paradigm, where its considered a major win if you're able to get a 2% conversion rate.

OUR APPROACH: INSIDE-OUT MARKETING

The secret to web marketing is very simple. Focus on innovation. In other words, what can we do, that nobody else is doing, that would be of absolute value to the visitors of our website? And here's the kicker- whose purpose are you trying to serve, yours and your company's, or your clients and customers'? The fundamental mistake in business- with everything from product development, to marketing, to website development- is companies and business owners getting lost in their own agenda and forgetting about who it is that they're serving. The bottom line is that the future of business is such that this isn't going to fly. There are enough small businesses formed by young entrepreneurs with innovative business models that are entirely centered around human-relations based marketing. Whether it is the call center, the FAQ section of the website, or an innovative web-community that allows for collaboration between the people they are serving, the true winners are those that are willing to give unconditionally and make other people's lives a little bit easier. That's inside-out marketing.

SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

So now you know the secret. The interesting thing is that we let people in on our "secret" all the time- even our competitors, because the truth is that the majority of the people that read this won't truly do something with it. You may be reading this and thinking to yourself "this makes sense, I'll have to think of some ideas of how I could turn my website or marketing plan inside-out." ...and the thought will be gone as quick as it came. Will you utilitze this information? I strongly doubt it. Its really not your fault though. See, as a business owner, there is this illusion of knowing what's best for your company, when its really hard to see things from an outside perspective when you're on the inside.

Often times, we'll take on a client and implement a program so simple that we'll usually hear the business owner at some point say "why did I not think of this?" or "how is it that none of our people could see this?" The answer is simple: its hard to recognize problem areas and weaknesses when you're "in it"- meaing you have some emotional attachment to it. Ultimately, that's what we're here for. So what does this have to do with web marketing? Everything.

TOUCHING BASE

by Minh D. Tran

Wow! It's been a long time since I last shared my thoughts with my readers. There's been alot of happenings in my life during the past 3 months.

First, in October, I moved back to Albuquerque, NM, where I was raised. I came here with a sales position for a web designing company from Santa Fe, NM. However, after settling in and stabilizing my life in Albuquerque, I discovered a new position that is more suitable for me at STC.UNM, and am liking it very much. Plus, it's a company in Albuquerque, so the drive is much shorter.

Second, in December, after a whole year of planning, I was finally wedded to my beautiful wife. The wedding took place in San Diego, CA with 350+ guests. Pictures to come soon! It was a beautiful day and there's no word that can describe it so I will let you see for yourself when I get a chance to post the pictures.

We enjoyed our honeymoon in romantic Italy. We visited Rome, Assisi, Venice, Verona, Florence, Pisa, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Isles of Capri, and Pompeii. Wow, took me two full breaths to say all that. It was a magical and romantic honeymoon. Again, pictures to come.

BAD GOOGLE, I AM DISAPPOINTED

Google's very own email service, GMail, built on the idea that "you should never have to delete any mail and you should always be able to find the messages you want."

Google is known to have unlimited storage space for your emails and encourages everyone to not delete any emails so that with their powerful search tools, you can find any message that has ever been written to you or by you. Sounds like a good deal?

Here's the catch...

Google admits that any deleted messages from your email will remain on their system, and may be accessible internally at Google, for an indefinite period of time. With that being said, is it possible that the contents in our email messages be searchable by the public? I mean, c'mon, all secrets will somehow be uncovered, and therefore, internally accessible information may one day be leaked to the public.

Let's say, one day you decided to email your friend some private information (credit card numbers, social security numbers, confidential information on your personal life, or whatever it is you did last summer, etc.), someone may someday be bored and submit a search and tah-dah, all your information is shown.

Makes you want to go back to Yahoo! Mail.
